• Project Jasper: As stated in the new release on 12 October 2018 –
Payments Canada, the Bank of Canada, TMX Group, Accenture and
R3 have published a feasibility report on clearing and settlement of
securities using DLT. This initiative proved that DLT technology can
enable equity settlement.
Trade finance
Overview
As the name suggests, trade finance is a term used for facilitating interna-
tional trade through the use of various financial instruments and products.
It enables importers and exporters to compete in end-to-end international
trade through financial instruments as per the agreement or contract.
There are various parties involved in trade finance. The following are the
main parties, to name a few:
• Banks
• Trade finance companies (third parties providing financial solutions
including brokers or intermediaries)
• Importers and exporters (Figure 3.1)
